10 Reasons to Love Journaling
For years, I’ve kept a journal to chronicle my life. It’s been there for me during my worst and best times—a constant companion. Journaling is something I picked up to not only help turn my dreams into reality but to give me an outlet when life gets to be too much. It’s a great form of self-therapy.
A journal can be a sacred space where you admit your greatest desires, biggest fears, and fondest memories. In fact, the act of writing is a key element of success. It only takes 20 minutes a day, but it can change your life.
Here are 10 reasons to love journaling:
1. Gratitude
Life isn’t always easy. In fact, sometimes it can kick us in the teeth! During those times, journaling in our Timeless Leather Journal can help remind you of all the things you have to be grateful for. One thing I love to do is to take a few minutes before bed, every night, to write down the top five things I’m most grateful for that day. It’s a wonderful habit to get into.
2. Mindfulness
Similar to helping you remember to be grateful, your journal can also be used to increase your mindfulness. It’s simple, throughout the day, when you need a short break from work and life, take out your journal and record your sensations, observations, thoughts, feelings, and messages of wisdom for that moment in time. This is especially helpful during times of stress when you need to meditate.
3. Clarity
Have you ever struggled to make a big decision? Journaling can bring clarity. Use your journal as a safe place to jot down all the thoughts swirling in your head. Write out the issue and then try to work your way through it. Seeing the problem on paper can help you find a solution.
 4. Creativity
Most of us work on computers all day, every day. Unfortunately, computer work dampens creativity. Instead, grab our Phoenix Feather Pen and a journal, and start to write out your thoughts and ideas - you’ll be amazed at the bursts of creativity that spring forth. Journaling is a great way to tap into your creative genius.
5. Therapy
Your journal has the potential to be both a therapist and a best friend who listens to you without judging or interrupting. You can tell your journal things that you can’t tell anyone else. Plus, journaling helps to rid you of your toxic feelings and emotions, so that you feel lighter.
6. Success
When you journal, you can track your successes and your failures on paper, which empowers you to see what works and what doesn’t. By consistently writing out your life events, you can gain unique insight that will help you progress and reach your goals.
7. Doodling
Sometimes words aren’t enough. That’s why I love the blank pages in our Words to Live By Leather Journal. On every blank page, I take the opportunity to create a little doodle or to draw out a table, chart, or a thought that’s been on my mind. The act of drawing, not just writing, helps me explore my world in a fresh and new way.
8. Planning
To reach your goals, you need a plan. Journaling puts your plan on paper so you can strategise a way to accomplish your goals. I love using my journal to plan out the week ahead so that I know exactly what I need to do to have a great week.
9. Idea Creation
Have you ever laid in bed at night trying to fall asleep and suddenly, your mind is packed full of ideas for work, crafts, dreams, etc.? We’ve all been there. Well, when you have a journal on your side table, you can quickly jot down your ideas before you lose them. Then, your ideas can stay alive until you put them into motion.
10. Dreaming
A journal is an ideal place to write out all your desires and dreams. Even if they’re dreams that you haven’t told anyone else, there’s no limit to what you can do according to your journal. Write down who you want to become, whom you want to meet, what you want to have, and where you want to go. Jot it all down and then, periodically, go back and read your goals so you can stay focussed and begin to align your life to your biggest dreams.
